CLEAR CHANNEL News-Talk KTRH-A/HOUSTON reporter JOE GOMEZ got the lowdown from PREMIERE NETWORKS "COAST TO COAST AM" host GEORGE NOORY about a scary adventure for NOORY in MEXICO. NOORY told GOMEZ about his near-kidnapping while visiting a resort in CABO SAN LUCAS a few months ago, a rare occurrence in the relatively safe area of LOS CABOS.
NOORY, who previously mentioned the incident on a JANUARY edition of his show, said that he and a companion were riding in a limousine van to the airport provided by his hotel when the driver, acting "very nervous from the get-go," drove to a "very seedy area" where the van broke down. When NOORY and his companion tried to get out of the car, the door latch broke off in his hand; when they got out of the car, several people showed up "trying to either take us or get us" until NOORY was able to hail another car coming down the road and pay for a ride. "I'm gonna stay in the good ol' U.S. for a long, long time," NOORY told GOMEZ.
GOMEZ also talked to a former FBI agent, GLOBAL INTEL STRATEGIES Pres. JIM CONWAY, who said that NOORY's experience was known as an "express kidnapping," which usually involves taking victims to ATMs to empty out their accounts at gun point.
