Kiss/Cleveland To Stage Chardon HS Prom

CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WAKS (96.5 KISS FM)/CLEVELAND has named CHARDON HIGH SCHOOL as the winner of the 2012 Rock Your Prom contest.  The 2012 Rock Your Prom contest began with a nomination process on FEBRUARY 13th, where listeners could vote for a local high school to win a $5,000 prom package that will include music from KISS FM Club DJs, DJ E-V and DJ PANA, concert-style lighting, video screens and digital effects. 

Students from schools across the area campaigned on behalf of CHARDON HIGH SCHOOL, which last month suffered extreme tragedy when a school shooting killed three students and injured many more.  The community rallied around CHARDON HIGH SCHOOL to collect more than 50,000 votes, which tallied more than 70% of all votes cast.  Students from multiple schools banded together to create FACEBOOK pages dedicated to ensuring the victory.  As CHARDON HIGH SCHOOL’s healing process begins, KISS FM, ROCK THE HOUSE and AMERICAN COMMODORE TUXEDO will put on the show on SATURDAY, MAY  5th.

"Students from competing high schools banded together and campaigned online for CHARDON HIGH SCHOOL to win this prize," PD BO MATTHEWS said. "It shows the good will that exists in NORTHEAST OHIO and how the community rallied to show their support."

"CHARDON HIGH SCHOOL graciously accepts this wonderful award that will bring great joy and something positive to look forward to this year," CHARDON HIGH English Teacher and Prom Advisor HOLLY MIHALEK said. "All of this outpouring support is appreciated and overwhelming-it has truly played a significant part in our healing process.  Thank you to everyone who voted, especially the students from other schools across the area."
