Report: KROI/Houston Anchor Fired For Appearing On Another Station

RADIO ONE News KROI (NEWS 92)/HOUSTON 9a-noon (CT) anchor SCOTT BRADDOCK told the HOUSTON CHRONICLE that he was fired for appearing on another radio station and playing a portion of an interview he conducted for KROI.
BRADDOCK said he was let go by Market Manager DOUG ABERNETHY after he guested on PACIFICA noncommercial Variety KPFK/HOUSTON's "PARTISAN GRIDLOCK" show with GEOFF BERG, playing an interview he recorded for KROI with a writer about the TEXAS sonogram law. BRADDOCK, a former reporter at crosstown CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KTRH-A, said that he did not ask permission to appear on the rival station's show and did not think he was obligated to do so, but that he was told by management that the appearance violated his contract and the interview was the station's intellectual property.
"They made a hard-sell case for me to come back to HOUSTON and help start this venture, and to fire one of your marquee guys doesn't seem like a great PR move," BRADDOCK told the CHRONICLE.
