Merlin's IQ 106.9/Philadelphia Debuts

MERLIN MEDIA's WWIQ/PHILADELPHIA has launched Phase 2 of its Talk debut, moving from its "all-SEAN HANNITY, all-the-time" stunt to "IQ 106.9," with former crosstown WCAU-TV and KYW-TV anchor LARRY MENDTE joining former GREATER MEDIA Talk WBT-A-F/CHARLOTTE morning man AL GARDNER for "PHILLY'S MORNING NEWS" 5-9a (ET) featuring "traffic and weather on the 10s."
MENDTE, most recently a commentator for the TRIBUNE TV stations including CW affiliate WPIX (TV)/NEW YORK and a former "ACCESS HOLLYWOOD" host, left local TV news in a controversy over accessing a co-anchor's e-mail in an incident that made tabloid headlines. MENDTE previewed the station's new lineup in a YOUTUBE video posted on SUNDAY describing radio news as "old and stale" and suggesting that radio news in the market is controlled by a NEW YORK company "with an agenda."
As expected, the lineup includes PREMIERE's GLENN BECK along with HANNITY; the station will add PREMIERE's RUSH LIMBAUGH when that show's contract with crosstown CBS RADIO Talk WPHT-A expires.
