WPGC Celebrates 25 Years On Air

Happy 25th!

CBS RADIO Top 40/Rhythmic WPGC/WASHINGTON D.C. celebrates 25 years on the air beginning today and throughout MEMORIAL DAY weekend. The story of the birth of WPGC goes something like this: On a FRIDAY night in MAY 1987, plans for WPGC were being doodled on cocktail napkins at the bar in the GREENBELT MARRIOTT. GM BENJAMIN HILL, now CBS RADIO/TAMPA VP/Market Mgr, and consultant JERRY CLIFTON, wrapped the meeting up, headed back to the station ( then AC WCLY), gave NEWCLEUS 'Jam On It' to the jock and WPGC 95 was born.

Throughout MEMORIAL DAY weekend, WPGC will showcase some of the biggest 'PGC songs of past summers. You'll hear special mixes from 'PGC alum G SHARP plus DJ REDDZ spinning songs from 2000 through today.
