A group of community activists led by former WLIB-A and WWRL-A/NEW YORK talk host BOB LAW and NEW YORK City Council member CHARLES BARRON has filed a petition to deny the sale of INNER CITY BROADCASTING to creditor-owned YMF MEDIA.
The petition by LAW, BARRON, COMMITTEE TO ELIMINATE MEDIA OFFENSIVE TO AFRICAN PEOPLE (CEMOTAP) member BETTY DOPSON, and MICHAEL D. NORTH argues that the transfer would concentrate control of programming aimed at Black audiences and alleges that YMF partner FORTRESS CAPITAL has a history of abuses of FCC policy involving premature control of licenses and was involved in the takeovers of three radio broadcast groups by the controversial investment group headed by D.B. ZWIRN.
