CBS Top 40 WDZH (98.7 AMP RADIO)/DETROIT made an impact over the MEMORIAL DAY weekend during MOVEMENT ELECTRONIC MUSIC FESTIVAL, held annually at HART PLAZA in DETROIT. 98.7 AMP RADIO's own DJ RYAN RICHARDS opened the MADE IN DETROIT STAGE on MONDAY (5/28), with a two-hour set consisting of Top 40 mixed with electronic dance music.
As his first appearance at the festival, RICHARDS drew a large crowd and had massive amounts of support from fans and station listeners. He kept people dancing nonstop from noon-2p, despite the scorching temperatures (his set may have made it even hotter outside).
AMP's promotional team also put in work over the weekend. With banners all over the festival gates and a tent set up directly at the entrance, the station did a top-notch job at spreading the word about RICHARDS’ set and facilitating listener engagement. Smiling faces and a photo booth kept people hanging around the tent at all times.
The effort put in from everyone involved at the station, especially RYAN RICHARDS and the promotional department, helped strengthen the connection between mainstream radio and electronic dance music. Since there has been a gap between the two in DETROIT, this was both new and refreshing for the city.
