On MONDAY (NET NEWS 6/11), ALL ACCESS reported APPLE's keynote presentation at its WORLDWIDE DEVELOPERS CONFERENCE in SAN FRANCISCO showcased the next generation MACBOOK PRO and a slew of new technological innovations -- including its SIRI voice assistant. Armed with a new version of the iOS6, it will provide not just sports scores, but stats. When asked where one can get sushi, it will offer the best restaurants and allow you to make a reservation with your voice. SIRI now gives not only movie listings, but reviews -- and can purchase your tickets, too.
KURT HANSON's RAIN newsletter also notes APPLE has entered into "a series of partnerships with automakers to bring the voice-control system SIRI into cars witin the next 12 months. Drivers will be able to press a button on the car dashboard, then speak a command (like 'launch PANDORA' or 'open iHEARTRADIO' or 'play ACCURADIO'). Automakers on-board with the new integration include BMW, MERCEDES, GM, LAND ROVER, JAGUAR, AUDI, TOYOTA, CHRYSLER and HONDA. The system will require a connected iPHONE."
PC MAG reports, "With its 'Eyes Free' system, APPLE said it is working with car manufacturers to integrate SIRI into select voice control systems. Knight Rider's Kit come to life?"
"Through the voice command button on your steering wheel, you'll be able to ask SIRI questions without taking your eyes off the road," APPLE said on its iOS 6 website.
