The FCC has sent Notices of Unlicensed Operation to several more alleged pirate station operators.
Receiving notice were FREE RADIO OLYMPIA (98.5 FM, OLYMPIA, WA); THOMAS MAHLON SOLBERG, JR. (98.5 FM, OLYMPIA, WA); STEVE STEINBERG (106.9 FM, SAN MARCOS, CA); PARKSIDE HOUSES MANAGEMENT OFFICE (103.3 FM, BRONX, NY); SEBASTIAN DELONE (103.3 FM, BRONX, NY); DANIEL MANTE (89.9 FM, WORCESTER, MA); MADSEN AUDESTIN (87.9 FM, IRVINGTON, NJ); GARY GUILLAUME and JEAN YVES TULLIUS (107.9 FM, IRVINGTON, NJ); TOWERS LIMITED PARTNERSHIP (88.7 FM, BROOKLYN, NY); JEFF SORKIN (88.7 FM, BROOKLYN, NY); 109 WEST 225TH STREET, LLC (92.9 FM, BROOKLYN, NY); ENOS ST. CLAIR (92.9 FM, BROOKLYN, NY); and THOMAS L. METZGER (87.9 FM, WARSAW, IN).
The FCC has also proposed a $4,000 fine against BIRACH BROADCASTING for repeated operation at night at Oldies daytimer WOAP-A/OWASSO, MI. The station does not have nighttime authority but was heard on the air after local sunset on multiple occasions in OCTOBER 2011. The station's Chief Operator said that they thought the station had post-sunset authority and a construction permit for night facilities, but the PSSA had been suspended in 2007 and the CP was never built. BIRACH is selling WOAP as well as Regional Mexican WMJH-A/ROCKFORD, MI to CANO'S BROADCASTING for $1.1 million in a promissory note.
In another MICHIGAN case, the Commission has proposed a $4,000 fine against TOWNSQUARE MEDIA Country WLCO-A/LAPEER, MI for failure to sign off at sunset as required. The station blamed a dead battery in the transmitter control unit for the problem.
Also proposed by the FCC was a $10,000 fine and reporting requirements on MARTIN BROADCASTING for tower lighting violations at its tower in BEAUMONT, TX.
And SUPER W MEDIA GROUP was fined $3,500 by the FCC for failure to power down at night at Regional Mexican WIPC-A/LAKE WALES, FL.
