Say it ain't so! DB Top 40 WKZL (107.5 KZL)/GREENSBORO morning star of almost 20 years, JACK MURPHY is no longer waking up the market. His last day was FRIDAY (6/22). He's been replaced by morning co-hosts JARED PIKE, KATIE O'BRIEN and WHITNEY THORE with a revamped show called "THE 'KZL MORNING SHOW WITH JARED, KATIE AND WHITNEY."
MURPHY told ALL ACCESS, "I slept in for the first time in many years this morning, while not on a vacation. I am headed to the gym. It's true, I'm not with the station anymore. I had 20 great years there with fantastic ratings. Never failed to hit a bonus in 18-34 or 25-54 adults. So, it's not a ratings issue.
"I'm very proud of our time at WKZL. We've raised over $1 million for 'MURPHY's KIDS' and had a lot of fun along the way. Not sure if I will stay in town but I will continue to work with my growing voiceover business, and other opportunities. I wish everyone at WKZL the very best."
And, WKZL OM/PD JASON GOODMAN added, "Yes, JACK is no longer employed with DBC, and we wish him the very best in his future."
