CUMULUS Top 40 WABD/MOBILE's QTIP and BLONDIE made the much-anticipated announcement this morning, answering week-long teases that "104-1 WABD will soon make a left turn."
The announcement was a surprise move as CUMULUS has acquired the original WABB 97.5 FM frequency from EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION and will be going "back home" to 97.5 this coming SUNDAY, JULY 15th at Noon.
CUMULUS is swapping its 98.3 frequency for 97.5, which means CUMULUS Urban AC WDLT will move to 104.1 at noon on SUNDAY.
EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION's "K-LOVE" Christian Contemporary format will switch to 98.3 at the same time.
CUMULUS co-COO JOHN DICKEY told ALL ACCESS, "97-5 is the address for hit music in the GULF COAST. We are thrilled to re-unite the two."
"Ahh ... there's no place like home," said CUMULUS SVP/Corporate Programming JAN JEFFRIES. "This is especially gratifying as I spent my middle school years in MOBILE and have history of listening on my paper route to some radio greats like SCOTT SHANNON, hahaha!"
