George Beasley, Erica Farber Honored As 'Giants Of Broadcasting'

Two radio figures are among the nine broadcasters who will be honored at 10th annual staging of the GIANTS OF BROADCASTING event sponsored by the LIBRARY OF AMERICAN BROADCASTING. The tribute, celebrating distinguished leadership or performance in television and radio, is scheduled for OCTOBER 18th at NEW YORK’s GRAND HYATT HOTEL.
Radio honorees are BEASLEY BROADCAST GROUP Chairman/CEO/Founder GEORGE BEASLEY and RAB Pres./CEO ERICA FARBER. Others being feted include TV producer NORMAN LEAR, PBS journalists ROBERT MACNEIL & JIM LEHRER, SOUL TRAIN Creator/host DON CORNELIUS, SONY CORP. CHAIRMAN SIR HOWARD STRINGER. TURNER BROADCASTING Founder TED TURNER and TV commentator ANDY ROONEY.
The LIBRARY OF AMERICAN BROADCASTING (LAB), located at the UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND, is entering its 41st year serving as the national information resource for the radio and television industries and the academic communities that rely upon it for depth and expertise. The LIBRARY has been honoring leaders in the broadcasting industry annually since 2003; its list of Giants will now exceed 149.
