Gaylord Entertainment to Cut 300 Jobs

WSMV CHANNEL 4 NEWS/ NASHVILLE reports that Country WSM-A/NASHVILLE owner GAYLORD ENTERTAINMENT has announced today (7/31) that it will eliminate 310 corporate jobs in NASHVILLE. This announcement comes after the recent sale of GAYLORD hotels to MARRIOTT INTERNATIONAL, as reported in ALL ACCESS (NET NEWS 6/1).
Forty percent of the 310 corporate employees will transition to MARIOTT employment after SEPTEMBER 30th, however the others will not be retained, according to GAYLORD VP/Corporate Communications BRIAN ABRAHAMSON.
After the MARIOTT transition, GAYLORD will continue to own and operate the GRAND OLE OPRY, RYMAN AUDITORIUM and WSM-A/NASHVILLE. GAYLORD Country WSM-A/NASHVILLE GM TOM ENGLISH says that "radio will not be affected" by these layoffs.
