SATURDAY's iHEARTRADIO FESTIVAL 2012 -- night two -- at the MGM GRAND in LAS VEGAS was another great evening of entertainment as was FRIDAY's lineup (NET NEWS 9/21), with some of the biggest artists in the world sharing their music with a sold out crowd -- all wearing flashing iHEARTRADIO wrist bands, at the MGM GRAND GARDEN ARENA. All of this a follow up to last year's debut iHEARTRADIO FESTIVAL, and this year, true to the positioner, "history didn't just repeat itself, it got bigger," it truly did.
Millions of fans from and around the world tuned in via iHEARTRDIO MUSIC FESTIVAL or through media partner YAHOO MUSIC.
And, from across the globe many thousands upon thousands of comments and photos were posted to FACEBOOK and TWITTER (#iHeartRadio) with live feeds on both pages and at the show itself. A true blending of some of the biggest artists, their music, and the best in state-of-the art video, staging/production, streaming, and social media technologies all in one huge event..
P!NK Can Sing ... And Fly
Leading off the show was P!NK who opened with "Raise Your Glass" and among six songs, she gave everyone a taste of an upcoming single "Try" and her current single "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" from her new album "The Truth About Love." The confetti cannons were in full effect and ... when P!NK did her finale, "So What," it was high above the crowd -- and she was everywhere in mid-air all over the MGM Grand Arena. It's hard enough to sing -- but to sing and fly ... wow!
Next up Country superstar BRAD PAISLEY rocked it his way! From singing his just-released single "Southern Comfort Zone" -- for the first time ever, live -- from his similarly titled upcoming album, to taking a fan's phone and videoing himself singing "She's Everything" to handing off his hat at the finale to another fan, and ribbing GREEN DAY for their "One minute, are you kidding me?", BRAD owned the room.
DJ/Producer/Artist CALVIN HARRIS delivered! Kicking off with his song with KELIS "Bounce," HARRIS moved into "Let's Go" -- his huge hit with NE-YO who performed it live. HARRIS closed out his set with his hit "Feels So Close," and NE-YO also sang his current hit "Let Me Love You."
The JONAS BROTHERS were on-screen to introduce ENRIQUE IGLESIAS, who kicked it off with "Tonight (I'm Lovin You)" with a quick segue into "I Like How It Feels" into "Dirty Dancer" with on-screen appearances from USHER and LIL WAYNE. ENRIQUE then went into "Finally Found You" with SAMMY ADAMS joining him on-stage -- and mid-song there was the release of hundreds of giant balloons, with "EI" on them bouncing around. Big fun! PITBULL joined ENRIQUE on-stage for "Baby I Like It" and some more confetti.
LL COOL J was next up and he introduced MARY J. BLIGE to the audience. BLIGE brought everyone to their feet with "Real Love" -- but the action didn't stop there, as she brought PRINCE on-stage who played guitar while she sang "Sweet Thing" by CHAKA KHAN & RUFUS. Then BLIGE and PRINCE both sang his smash, "Nothing Compares 2 U."
The incomparable TAYLOR SWIFT was on-stage next. Her upcoming album "Red" was noted in huge (naturally) red letters. She kicked her set off with "Sparks Fly" and then embracing the multi-genre spirit of the iHEARTRADIO FESTIVAL, SWIFT played banjo and CAITLIN EVANSON played fiddle on "Mean." Finishing her set with her current smash "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," the crowd sang along as TAYLOR was joined by around 100 people on stage, many in costume.
You Do Like To Rock?
LINKIN PARK drove the crowd hard and fast with an amazing set of great music and video and lasers starting off with the classic "In The End." The rest of the set -- a mixture of old and current -- included "Bleed It Out," "Until It Breaks," from the band's new album "Living Things," "Waiting For The End to Come," "Lost in the Echo," "Numb," "Leave Out All The Rest," "What I've Done, their current hit single "Burn It Down," (and yes there was plenty of fire effects) followed by "Faint," and closing it out with "One Step Closer" to wrap up their stunning set.
Showing why EDM is huge, DEADMAU5 (aka JOEL ZIMMERMAN) turned on all of the music and effects to the max with the help of EDM heavies PETE TONG and STEVE AOKI. Those flashing iHEARTRADIO wrist bands were going nuts to the beat of tracks like "Some Chords" and "The Veldt." ZIMMERMAN was joined by GERARD WAY (from MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE) to sing their collaboration "Professional Griefers."
Actor DAVID SPADE then welcomed AEROSMITH to the stage. No shortage of fun and energy here! Frontman STEVEN TYLER and the group showed why they are one of music's greatest bands of all time, leading off with "Love Is An Elevator" followed by "Sweet Emotion," "Dream On" and wrapping up with "Walk This Way."
Closing out the show was the ultimate party man himself PITBULL -- aka MR. WORLDWIDE, LIL' CHICO, and MR. 305." He kicked off with "Mr. Worldwide," "Hey Baby," and "International Love," going into "Get It Started," "Rain Over Me," and "Feel So Close." PITBULL gave a big nod and congrats to SHAKIRA who canceled due to her pregnancy, and thanked MARC ANTHONY and CALVIN HARRIS for their help as well.
The wild set continued with "Back In Time," "I Know You Want Me," "Don't Stop The Party" and "Hotel Room Service." And for the finale NE-YO joined PITBULL to sing "Give Me Everything" while thousands of balloons fell from the rafters of the MGM GRAND ARENA to signify the end of iHEARTRADIO FESTIVAL 2012.
iHeartRadio Festival Night One!
FRIDAT night (9/21) the iHEARTRADIO FESTIVAL 2012 at the MGM GRAND in LAS VEGAS presented a stellar lineup of artists and their music, all showcased by cutting edge digital video, laser and concert production technology. All of these elements created a surrealistic live music experience for a sold out MGM GRAND GARDEN ARENA.
Fans at home or on the go got to tune into iHEARTRADIO MUSIC FESTIVAL or through media partner YAHOO MUSIC, and they were able to post to FACEBOOK and TWITTER (#iHeartRadio) with live feeds on both pages and at the show itself.
Amazing Lineup of Superstars
The night kicked off with NO DOUBT who played some of their biggest hits and debuted their new single "Looking Hot," and GWEN STEFANI was joined on-stage by P!NK to join in for rendition of NO DOUBT's 1995 smash "Just A Girl".
KIIS-FM/LOS ANGELES' RYAN SEACREST and WHTZ (Z100)/NEW YORK's ELVIS DURAN both made appearances. And, BRITNEY SPEARS joined SEACREST on stage to bring on Country superstar MIRANDA LAMBERT. DURAN spoke about how iHEART was all about the fans -- and that "we are all fans."
LAMBERT belted out hits like "Baggage Claim," "Over You," and "Kerosene" and was joined by THE PISTOL ANNIES for "Hell On Heels" and "Takin' Pills" with the set closing out with "Fastest Girl In Town."
Up next, talented up and coming duo MEGAN & LIZ, "MACY's iHEARTRADIO RISING STAR" competition winners, did a fine acoustic set featuring "Bad For Me" and "Are you Happy Now." Great crowd reaction!
BON JOVI was next and lead off a smash-packed set with the audience singing most of the lyrics to "Livin' On A Prayer" and made liberal use of lasers during the set which also included "You Give Love a Bad Name," and "It's My Life."
Country fave JASON ALDEAN brought his unique sound to the stage in a hot performance that showcased songs from his new album "Night Train" that debuts OCTOBER 16th. That included the lead single "Hicktown" and another track "Take A Little Ride."
Viral video sensation PSY was next up with a live rendition of his smash "Gangnam Style" -- the crowd went wild.
MILEY CYRUS, with her new coif, and Olympic medalist RYAN LOCHTE, complete with a metal grill, were in the fashion and music spotlight to introduce LIL WAYNE.
And LIL WAYNE did not disappoint! He brought everyone to their feet -- and while rapping "Lollipop" he was joined by YMCMB artist SHANELL. The surprises from WEEZY continued as he introduced KEYSHIA COLE during the set to perform "Enough Of No Love."
Up next was EDM sensation SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA who did an amazing live DJ set including their new hit single "Don't You Worry Child." They capped the set with the introduction of USHER who performed "Euphoria" live, a first for the trio and USHER.
USHER got his set going with "OMG" and from there went into "Yeah" along with "Burn" and many others turning up the tempo and then bringing it down to smooth, and back up again.
Up next was GREEN DAY who started out having a spectacular set until the evening's one noticeable technical glitch sent things into a spiral! Highlighted by BILLIE JOE ARMSTRONG jumping into the crowd, letting a fan grab the mic and sing, then returning to the stage with another fan to sing, everything was perfect.
The set was about 20 minutes into what was to have been a 30-minute set when a teleprompter -- that everyone could see -- indicated that the group only had 1 minute to go.
BILLIE JOE reacted with an explicative-filled rant: "Let me show you what one minute f*cking means," which lead into the group smashing their guitars to wild the cheers of the audience, and walking off the stage. See the video -- which contains explicit language -- when you click here.
RIHANNA, dressed in Urban Chic, wowed the world with her stunning performance of hit songs like "Only Girl In The World" and "Umbrella," closing out the set and the amazing evening with "We Found Love."
