KXRN-LP/LAGUNA BEACH, CA will launch Alternative "KX 93.5," a member-supported, non-commercial low-powered FM radio station on MONDAY, OCTOBER 15th at 7a. The radio station will be playing alternative and indie rock from the '60s until today on 93.5FM and online at www.KX935.com.
LAGUNA BEACH MAYOR JANE EGLY will cut the ribbon to the new studio at 1833 S Coast Highway at 3p on 10/15 with a launch party to follow that will be open to the public.
“An FM radio station that people can actually pick up clearly is the one thing this great community is missing,” said KX 93,5 PD TYLER RUSSELL. “We’re excited to be the first creative outlet in the area for local musicians and personalities.”
The on-air lineup will include RUSSELL from 6-10a, SHAWN WHITNEY from 10-3p, and MARC “MOOKIE” KACZOR from 3-7p. MOOKIE will also serve as MD.
RUSSELL was heard most recently in PALM SPRINGS at MORRIS COMMUNICATIONS Rocker KCLB/PALM SPRINGS, CA and KKUU-D2 (CRUSH 103.9); WHITNEY was previously at TOWNSQUARE Active Rock KBAZ/MISSOULA, MT; and MOOKIE has spent time at SAN DIEGO's LOCAL MEDIA Alternative XTRA-F (91X), CBS RADIO Hot AC KSCF (SOPHIE 103.7), and LINCOLN FINANCIAL Alternative KBZT (FM 94/9).
KX 93.5 aims to have close ties with the community. It will broadcast news courtesy of STU NEWS, happenings courtesy of the LAGUNA BEACH TIMES, surf and beach reports, traffic and parking reports, high school sports, and volunteer shows will primarily air in evening.
