The Joy FM Sarasota Makes Powerful Announcement
November 14, 2012 at 5:30 AM (PT)
RADIO TRAINING NETWORK Christian WCIE (THE JOY FM)/SARASOTA held a "family meeting" on the air at 7:30a this morning (11/14). THE MORNING CRUISE announced to their listeners that they will, for the first time, have a strong signal into the TAMPA area. PD/CARMEN BROWN, who lives in TAMPA and has commuted every weekday morning for the past 8 years, says "this is a prayer and dream come true!".
The TAMPA area suburbs have been serviced by numerous translators over the history of THE JOY FM, but they've never been able to cover all of the market, and have been consistently searching for a solution. Morning show co-host/BILL MARTIN explains, "It hasn't been able to be accomplished for 26 years. It was humanly impossible. But the impossible has just happened!"
The new signal will be 91.5, and will increase the potential TAMPA audience by six times what it is presently, from 589,000 people to 3.5 million. THE JOY FM is embarking on a fund raising project, "One Day", with a finale on DECEMBER 11th. The total amount needed to accomplish the project is 1.8 million dollars. $800,000 has already been promised by key partners of the ministry. To raise the remaining million, the station is asking for 500 people to give $1000, and 1000 people to give $500.
As CARMEN says, "A God sized door has been opened. And the One who calls you is faithful and He will do it". PRES/JIM CAMPBELL adds, "As I drove down from LAKELAND this morning, I had to listen to three different frequencies. This is the most amazing thing! I've been praying and trying to get a signal into TAMPA since 1976. And now it's happening."
