ENTERCOM Sports WEEI-F/BOSTON was honored with the 2012 GLOBAL LUNG CANCER COALITION Journalism Award for the station’s coverage of lung cancer during its annual JIMMY FUND Radio-Telethon. ENTERCOM BOSTON VP of Programming and Operations JASON WOLFE accepted the award at the Shine a Light on Lung Cancer Vigil in BOSTON TUESDAY (11/13).
"It’s an incredible honor to be recognized by the GLOBAL LUNG CANCER COALITION and I’m so proud to accept this award on behalf of all of us at WEEI,” said WOLFE. “Cancer affects us all, and we are blessed to have had such tremendous success shining a light on this terrible disease through the efforts of the JIMMY FUND radio-telethon. I want to thank everyone at the GLCC for their support. It means a great deal to our entire staff.”
“The U.S. representatives of GLCC celebrate WEEI’s coverage of lung cancer,” said MAUREEN RIGNEY, Director of Community and Support Services for the LUNG CANCER ALLIANCE. “The interviews with survivors, leading oncologists and other healthcare professionals not only educate the public about the disease but also give hope and encouragement to lung cancer patients and their loved ones.”
