PPM Picks Up Lachey Bounce At KRBE

We've always assumed that on-air celebrity appearances increase ratings, but now, thanks to the ongoing ARBITRON PPM (Portable People Meter) electronics ratings testing in HOUSTON, there's proof.
SUSQUEHANNA (now CUMULUS) Top 40 KRBE/HOUSTON welcomed NICK LACHEY to their morning show on MARCH 23rd. According to PPM stats, the KRBE morning show averaged 145,000 listeners in FEBRUARY, MARCH and APRIL. But that number increased to 196,000 during the morning of LACHEY's appearance.
With the PPM, ARBITRON is able to measure audiences down to the individual day and hour. ARBITRON plans to launch PPM measurement in the top 50 markets by Fall 2010 -- beginning with HOUSTON -- pending MEDIA RATING COUNCIL accreditation.
