Report: Sony Wants Larger Stake In Sony BMG

SONY is ready to raise its stake in SONY BMG if partner BERTELSMANN is willing to sell, according to a report on FORBES.COM attritubed to the financial daily NIHON KEIZAI SHIMBUN. SONY Chairman/CEO HOWARD STRINGER is quoted as saying that the company is awaiting results of discussions at BERTELSMANN.
The newspaper said BERTELSMANN is considering selling its stake in SONY BMG amid a widening rift there between employees from SONY and BERTELSMANN. However, as previously reported (NET NEWS 6/21), BERTELSMANN CEO GUNTER THIELEN told REUTERS that there were no plans to restructure SONY BMG. "We want to stay in SONY BMG," he said.
