MERLIN MEDIA Talk WWIQ (IQ 106.9)/PHILADELPHIA morning co-host LARRY MENDTE has left the station.
On his FACEBOOK page, MENDTE posted, "As most of you know, I have not been on the air for the past week. I have been told that many of you have called the station asking where I am and I thank you for that. The truth is I am no longer working at IQ 106.9. It was not my choice and since my show was by far the highest rated local show I am certain this will fuel the industry rumors that the station is being sold. I hope that is not true as the station fills an important void."
"I love talk radio and hope to be back soon so we can continue our conversation," added MENDTE, known primarily as a television news anchor at WCAU-TV and KYW-TV/PHILADELPHIA and co-host of "ACCESS HOLLYWOOD" before the 2008 controversy over his accessing of co-anchor ALYCIA LANE's email. "And so I am leaving this page up when I will soon amend it with a new place and time." MENDTE, whose slot alongside morning co-host AL GARDNER has been filled by former WOR-A and WABC-A/NEW YORK and WFLA-A/TAMPA host LIONEL, continues to provide commentary for TRIBUNE television stations including WPIX/NEW YORK and WPHL-TV/PHILADELPHIA.
