SUNDAY's NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS NFC Championship game loss to BALTIMORE also marked the end of GIL SANTOS' 36-year, 744-game run as radio voice of the PATRIOTS.
SANTOS, who ended his career tied with PHILADELPHIA EAGLES radio play-by-play announcer MERRILL REESE as the longest-tenured NFL voice, thanked fans and the PATRIOTS for their kindness and cooperation, concluding, "Thank you very much for allowing me to be the voice of the PATRIOTS for 36 wonderful years. I enjoyed every minute of it. I hope the next guy enjoys it as much as I did, and realizes it’s a privilege, not a job. This is GIL SANTOS, thanking you all for 36 wonderful years.”
