PlayStation4 Being Showcased

SONY is currently holding a showcase of its new PLAYSTATION 4 in NEW YORK CITY. The overriding emphasis of the new model is that unlike its predecessors, where the console was the experience hub, access to the gaming is unlimited so the gamer can play on almost any platform; from almost anywhere, be it console, tablet or smartphone; and with anyone. As ARSTECHNICA.COM's live blog reports, essentially the PLAYSTATION 4 will establish a real-time social network of its own.
Among the innovations: SONY has partnered with GAIKAI to create a network of streaming games for its social gaming platform; the games will be housed in SONY's own cloud platform, which will be rolled out in stages. The new system will enable users to livestream their gaming to their friends in real time -- and vice versa. The system will even tell you when one of your friends downloads a game.
KOTAKU.COM quotes sources indicating that PLAYSTATION 4 will be out this NOVEMBER in the U.S., with price points tentatively be in the neighborhood of at $429 and $529.
