FCC Sets Filing Window For Auction 83 'Tech Box' Translator Construction Permit Applications

The FCC has opened a window for filing of  Form 349 applications for the 713 "tech box" FM translator construction permits in FCC Auction 83, starting TODAY (2/26) and running through MARCH 28th.

Applications for the translators must not be mutually exclusive with any other applications, and must specify transmitter site locations which are both outside all Spectrum Limited markets and not within 39 km of any Spectrum Limited market grid.  These "singleton" applications are exempt from the auction process, and Form 349s must be filed for them by MARCH 28th.

The process is part of the expedited procedure in the wake of the Fifth Order on Reconsideration clearing out translator applications to open spectrum for low power FMs under revised interference standards.
