NY Post Rumor: Stern Being Considered For NBC Late Nights
March 8, 2013 at 4:52 AM (PT)
The source is described as someone "close to the radio man" and "a source who knows him well," so the NEW YORK POST's report that HOWARD STERN is "being 'groomed' by NBC" to replace JIMMY FALLON as host of "LATE NIGHT" if FALLON makes the move to replace JAY LENO on "THE TONIGHT SHOW" might raise some skepticism.
Nevertheless, the paper's LINDA STASI writes that STERN "has been trying to show TV suits for years that he’s the whole package -- as opposed to the one he talks about on the radio. He’s shown on ("AMERICA'S GOT TALENT"), one of the most popular family shows on TV, that he can act like a grown-up and play well with others -- if the money’s right. And, according to a source who knows him well, the suits at NBC have gotten the message."
STASI added that STERN's agent DON BUCHWALD said he won't comment on clients, and "a high-placed source at NBC denied the rumor and said the source was incorrect."
