SHERYL CROW took to social media YESTERDAY and addressed the recent bankruptcy of DIONNE WARWICK, and the ongoing fight for artists to be paid when their songs air on U.S. radio.
"DIONNE WARWICK does not get paid for her beautiful recordings when they are played on the radio. She had to file for bankruptcy today," TWEETED CROW, adding "Sad -- US doesn’t pay artist/musicians for their performances on radio. Only writers are paid. US, china and iran. We need to change that."
CROW was referring to news that WARWICK had run up $10.7 million in debts, and filed bankruptcy papers in NEW JERSEY last week suggesting she has just $10 in disposable cash once her monthly expenses are covered. Most of WARWICK’s debt is reportedly due to unpaid taxes.
