JACK FM stations in SOUTHAMPTON and OXFORD, ENGLAND were nominated this week for two of the U.K. radio industry’s biggest awards at the SONY RADIO ACADEMY AWARDS. JACK FM/SOUTHAMPTON picked up its first SONY nomination ever in the Best Imaging category, while OXFORD's JACK FM is also the only commercial station to be nominated alongside BBC stations in the much coveted Station of the Year category (300,000-1 million).
"We’re thrilled that JACK/SOUTHAMPTON has been recognized for its unique and cutting edge station imaging at the SONYS," exclaimed OXIS MEDIA’s IAN WALKER. who represents the JACK brand internationally. "This caps off a great year for the station, which also achieved record audience growth. JACK/OXFORD’s nomination as U.K. Radio Station of the Year is also an outstanding achievement being the only commercial radio station nominated as a finalist in the category. With five JACK stations now operating successfully in the competitive U.K. radio market, we are looking forward to working with SPARKNET to launch more of one of the most successful radio brands operating in the U.K. today."
"As the JACK brand continues to grow in the U.K., both SOUTHAMPTON’s 106 JACK FM and OXFORD’s 106 JACK FM contribute to the awareness as great examples of innovation and creativity," SPARKNET Pres. PAT BOHN said. "The SONY nominations recognize their award winning production in music variety and personality."
