HUBBARD RADIO Adult Hits WILV (REWIND 100.3)/CHICAGO PD BARRY JAMES will be retiring from the station and broadcasting on MAY 17th, 2013. JAMES spent 36 years in the industry, most of those in programming and other senior management roles.
MAY 17th also marks his 20th anniversary with HUBBARD RADIO/CHICAGO (and BONNEVILLE INTERNATIONAL CORP.) stations, taking over as PD at WTMX (THE MIX) in 1993. He segued to WILV as VP/GM and returned to programming in recent years.
"During my interview with (HUBBARD RADIO COO) DREW HOROWITZ in MAY of 1993, he mentioned that I should really settle in and stay a while in my next position," JAMES recalled. "I took that to heart and enjoyed an amazing 20-year run!"
"BJ has had a run most broadcasters dream of," HUBBARD RADIO/CHICAGO VP/Programming and Operations GREG SOLK said. "In between BARRY’s many passions that include aviation, scuba diving, motorcycles, playing the drums and racing cars, BARRY has been a dear friend and a brilliant programming partner to me and our CHICAGO teams for two decades. We are thrilled for BARRY and his next chapter."
Looking ahead, JAMES said, "I’ve been racing cars and motorcycles since I was old enough to point one down the track. So, I’m retiring from radio after 36 years and taking a dream opportunity with VMP SUPERCHARGERS, a performance motorsports company based in CENTRAL FLORIDA. Whoever steps into the PD position at REWIND 100.3 is poised to capitalize on a dream opportunity, too! I can’t say enough about the support of HUBBARD RADIO."
CHICAGO’s REWIND 100.3 will now conduct a search for the next PD. Applications are being accepted via e-mail at email@example.com.
