THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY's overall second fiscal quarter revenues rose 10% to $10.554 billion, with net income up 32% to $1.513 billion (83 cants/diluted share). The Media Networks division saw a 6% revenue increase to $4.957 million, but broadcasting fell 2% to $1.499 million, blamed on higher primetime programming costs at ABC television.
Revenues for the company's radio operations, RADIO DISNEY and ESPN AUDIO, are not broken out separately.
"With adjusted earnings per share up 36% over last year, we're obviously pleased with our second quarter," said Chairman and CEO BOB IGER. "Our results reflect our successful strategy, the strength of our brands and the value of our high-quality creative content, all of which continue to drive long-term growth and shareholder value."
