JOHN PELLEGRINI, free-lance radio production pro, who’s resume includes stints at WLS-A/CHICAGO and WKLQ/GRAND RAPIDS, has launched "Special Parents Confidential," a resource podcast for parents of special needs children.
"One of the hardest things about being the parent of a special needs child is finding reliable information," PELLEGRINI said. "Many parents don’t have the ability or the time to attend support group meetings that could help. And while the internet can be a great resource, not everything is credible when it comes to researching information."
The podcast features interviews with both experts and parents of special needs children on a variety of issues from legal rights, to getting special education help in school, to medical advice, social issues, and beyond. So far PELLEGRINI has nine interview episodes available for free download on the website, and the podcasts are available for free on iTUNES. He’s recorded two more interviews that will be uploaded soon, and plans on recording more over the next few months.
"I’ve been fortunate to have met a lot of great experts and some amazing parents along the way and they’ve agreed to share their knowledge. My goal is to do episodes on every possible disability or challenge that can affect our kids, right down to specific disorders. Hopefully we’ll be able to reach the right audience with the right information."
