West Virginia Radio Corp. Challenges IMG's Bidding For WVU Sports Deal

With WEST VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY putting its 12-year athletics multimedia contract back up to bid, AP reports that WEST VIRGINIA RADIO CORP. has pulled out of the bidding and wants IMG COLLEGE, the winner of the aborted first bidding, to be disqualified.
The IMG deal was invalidated and the contract put back up for bid because WEST VIRGINIA Attorney General PATRICK MORRISEY's office found errors -- but no evidence of intentional wrongdoing -- in the participation of two members of the school's board who had ties to a subcontractor working with IMG, and Athletic Director OLIVER LUCK providing those board members confidential details of the contract.
IMG, WEST VIRGINIA RADIO GROUP, NELLIGAN SPORTS MARKETING, LEARFIELD COMMUNICATIONS, and FOX RUN GROUP were the parties participating in a pre-bidding conference call in MAY. Proposals were due WEDNESDAY with a decision to be made AUGUST 5th and announced on AUGUST 23rd. MOUNTAINEER SPORTS NETWORK, owned by the college and working with WEST VIRGINIA RADIO CORP., currently holds the rights.
