Derek Madden Officially Named PD At KLOS
July 9, 2013 at 11:26 AM (PT)
CUMULUS Classic Rocker KLOS/LOS ANGELES has officially named DEREK MADDEN PD. Previously, he was PD at sister Classic Rock KSAN (THE BONE)/SAN FRANCISCO.
"SAN FRANCISCO's been my home for 12 years," MADDEN said. "It was always going to take something pretty special for me to leave, and now I've found it.
"As a college kid trying to figure out where radio could take me, my best-case scenario always ended at a station like KLOS. To work with that legendary brand and a top-shelf morning show like HEIDI & FRANK is literally a dream come true. Thanks to JOHN DICKEY, VAL GARRIS, MARKO RADLOVIC and MIKE MCVAY for this tremendous opportunity. And a special thanks to the entire team at KSAN. I'm really proud of what we accomplished."
Other moves include:
* Current KFOG/KSAN OM BILL PUGH will take over programming duties at KSAN.
* PUGH will join the KFOG morning show with GREG GORY and producer MUD.
* TIM JEFFREYS will move from KFOG mornings to KSAN afternoons (DEREK MADDEN's previous shift).
* WEBSTER will return to KFOG afternoons (from ENTERCOM KUFX (K-FOX)/SAN JOSE nights).
Meanwhile, KLOS APD BILL HUNING exited at the close of business yesterday. He told ALL ACCESS, "MONDAY morning I was informed that my position had been eliminated at 95.5 KLOS/LOS ANGELES after 9 ½ years and that CUMULUS had hired a new PD for the station. Over the past couple of years, I have been Acting PD, MD and APD. It was a dream gig made possible by my predecessors RITA WILDE and BOB BUCHMANN, and a programming and production staff that any programmer would be lucky to have. It was a true pleasure to come to work everyday to see their faces."
"Along the way, I’ve met tons of people in this biz and I look forward to getting back in the game quickly so I can work with them again," he continued. "We’re a small but very supportive family and we all love what we do! The future of KLOS is strong with DEREK MADDEN, and I congratulate him on landing one of the coolest gigs in the world. One last thank you to the GM of KLOS and KABC, MARKO RADLOVIC. He always gave the support I needed and is as cool as they come!"
