Amar Bose, Founder Of Eponymous Audio Company, Dies At 83

AMAR BOSE, whose name became synonymous with high-end tabletop radios and noise-canceling headphones, died FRIDAY (7/12) at his home in WAYLAND, MA at 83.
BOSE joined the MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY faculty in 1956 after earning his doctorate from the school and remained on the faculty through 2001. He launched a research program in physical acoustics and psychoacoustics that led him to start BOSE CORP. in 1964. The company is most well-known for the BOSE Wave radio and QuietComfort noise-canceling headphones.
