GREATER MEDIA Alternative WBOS (RADIO 92.9)/BOSTON will “buy back” any subscribers’ copies of the current ROLLING STONE magazine with one of alleged BOSTON Marathon Bomber's DZHOKHAR TSARNAEV on the cover. Listeners can exchange the magazine for concert tickets at the WBOS studios on FRIDAY, JULY 26th from 9-5p. The station will then box up the collected magazines and ship them back to ROLLING STONE.
“After getting input from the RADIO 92.9 FACEBOOK and TWITTER communities, we decided that a ‘buy back’ program would be the best way to show our support for the city as well as for the BOSTON Marathon bombing victims,” said 92.9 PD KEN WEST.
WEST added, “RADIO 92.9 is saddened over ROLLING STONE’s portrayal of DZHOKHAR TSARNAEV particularly when the focus should be on the first responders and survivors who acted so heroically that day. We hope that the station’s buy back program will serve as an outlet for our listeners and will send a strong message to the ROLLING STONE editors.”
