FCC Nixes Challenge To KWMU Renewal

The FCC has denied a challenge by WILLIAM HAAS to the renewal of the license of UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI noncommercial KWMU (ST. LOUIS PUBLIC RADIO)/ST. LOUIS.
HAAS complained to the Commission that the station was biased against his candidacy in the 2012 Democratic primary election for Lieutenant Governor of MISSOURI, claiming that talk host DON MARSH and a guest insulted his candidacy and that HAAS was denied air time when he called into the show. The FCC responded that "the Objection fails to allege adequate and specific factual allegations concerning the alleged political programming issues sufficient to warrant Commission action." The station, the Commission said, did not violate any rules by screening HAAS out when he called in during discussion of an unrelated topic.
