The 32nd Annual KLOS/LOS ANGELES Blood Drive concluded a five-day, five-county, 20-site tour that intended to collect 6,000 blood products -- but soared past expectations and collected a total of 8,140 blood products.
"The need for blood is constant - especially in emergency situations," AMERICAN RED CROSS BLOOD SERVICES – SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Region CEO CLIFF NUMARK said. "Our reserves were depleted and we were facing challenges brought on by a national summer blood shortage. The RED CROSS appreciates the thousands of KLOS listeners and donors who participated in this life-saving effort. However, the need still remains as the blood supply is not yet back up to adequate levels, and blood continues to go to local hospitals just as quickly as it is coming in. We greatly appreciate the support of KLOS, our donors, and the volunteers and site sponsors that poured their hearts into the 32nd anniversary of this incredible effort. It was a remarkable success!"
Each presenting donor also got a chance to see one of the summer’s hottest rock concerts courtesy of AEG, NEDERLANDER CONCERTS and the L.A. COUNTY FAIR. "Each year we’re amazed at how our listeners rally together to make this event very successful," KLOS Marketing Dir. ROXANE REQUIO said. "That fact that thousands of people can come together over the course of a few days and potentially save over 20,000lives is just incredible."
