Terrible news, as ALL ACCESS has learned that former NARAS and ELEKTRA RECORDS executive JERRY SHARELL was stabbed at his WOODLAND HILLS, CA home by the ex- husband of a woman he is dating. We're told he's in critical condition at NORTHRIDGE HOSPITAL, as is the woman.
SHARELL, who helped establish such acts as THE EAGLES, CARLY SIMON and QUEEN, was "held hostage, police say, along with his girlfriend and was savagely attacked by her ex-husband," reports KABC-TV/LOS ANGELES.
Witnesses told KABC that the attacker arrived on a motorcycle "armed with a machete ... He got off the bike, took off his helmet, went in the back, and pulled out a big bouquet of flowers and started walking down the street. I just thought it was weird," said neighbor HAROLD SULMAN.
"Over the next three hours, it appears that he held his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend hostage inside the residence," said LAPD Sgt. JEFF NUTTAL. "Sometime during that time, the old boyfriend had stabbed [SHARELL] repeatedly, then the suspect turned the weapon on himself and stabbed himself."
Police have not identified the suspect, but they say he has been arrested and is in custody at the hospital. He was last listed in critical condition.
