Longtime CHICAGO radio newsman CHARLIE MEYERSON is partnered in a new venture, a mobile app serving up customized audio news content. ROBERTFEDER.COM reports that the startup, HEARHERE RADIO (H2 RADIO), will debut next month with an iPHONE app. ANDROID and other platforms will see apps coming in 2014.
MEYERSON, who served as News Director at TRIBUNE Talk WGN-A and more recently worked at MERLIN's former News WIQI/WWWN (FM NEWS 101.1), said, “Over the last few decades, radio stations have gradually trimmed news or eliminated it altogether. Even those with full news departments live under oppressive time limits. H2 RADIO gives news a chance to ‘breathe.’ This is radio news freed of the tyranny of the clock: Stories can run as long — or as short — as needed.”
The service, based in CHICAGO, will offer traffic, weather, and breaking news alerts.
