ALL ACCESS is very pleased to announce that veteran radio programmer, and "Coaches Corner" columnist SAM WEAVER has been named to the post of ALL ACCESS Urban/UAC Editor, effective TODAY (1/2). WEAVER will continue to write "Coaches Corner" in addition to his new duties.
SAM takes over those duties for our beloved JERRY BOULDING who passed away following a short illness this past THANSKGIVING (NET NEWS 11/29).
ALL ACCESS President & Publisher JOEL DENVER noted, "It takes a special person to run the ALL ACCESS Urban/UAC format department after JERRY BOULDING, and we are blessed to have that person in the house, as we are calling on SAM WEAVER, who pens "Coaches Corner" for us each week, to handle this important place on our staff.
I will work very hard to honor Jerry's legacy by continuing to learn, share knowledge, and keeping our community connected.
"JERRY did a remarkable job of working with radio and label execs, as well as artists and their managers to build the traffic in the ALL ACCESS Urban/UAC format section to become the leading go-to source for information, music and more in this dynamic format community.
"I have every confidence that SAM's many years of programming experience at 12 stations including KRNB/DALLAS, Black-owned and operated KPRS & KPRT/KANSAS CITY and WDIA/MEMPHIS, plus stops in CHICAGO, SAN FRANCISCO, DETROIT, ST. LOUIS, NEW ORLEANS, PITTSBURGH and GREENSBORO.
During his time in those markets SAM has built lifetime relationships with radio peers, label execs, artists and managers that will serve him and everyone in the Urban/UAC formats well as he builds on JERRY's solid foundation."
SAM commented, "Although I am both excited and happy for this opportunity as the new ALL ACCESS Urban/UAC Editor and look forward to the challenges that all of us face in terms of keeping the radio and music industries creative, focused and profitable for years to come, it just saddens me as to how it's come about.
"Like so many others, I looked up to and greatly admired JERRY BOULDING. And fueled by that, I will work very hard to honor JERRY's legacy by continuing to learn, share knowledge, and keeping our community connected."
