Texas Station Hit By FCC With Two-Year Renewal, Fine

The FCC has hit LKCM RADIO GROUP LP with a short-term two year renewal and a proposed $4,000 fine for public file violations and extended periods off the air at Country KOME-F (92.1 HANK FM)/MERIDIAN, TX.
The station said on its license renewal form that its public file was missing quarterly issues/programs lists through 2010 and was silent "much of 2011 and 2012" before returning in MARCH 2013. The Commission reduced the fine from the base $10,000 but said "Licensee’s conduct has fallen far short of that which would warrant routine license renewal. Licensee’s stewardship of the Station fails to meet the public service commitment which licensees are expected to provide to their communities of license on a daily basis because the Station was silent for nearly half of its license term."
