KFNN Celebrates 25 Years Of Business Radio In Phoenix
March 31, 2014 at 5:55 AM (PT)
CRC Business Talk KFNN-A-K257CD (MONEY RADIO 1510 AM/99.3FM)/PHOENIX is celebrating its 25th anniversary in the format. The station, then KJAA, flipped to the format in 1988; since then, CRC President RON COHEN has added the FM translator (last SEPTEMBER) and a sister station in the same format, KPSF-A (MONEY RADIO 1200)/PALM SPRINGS, CA (in MARCH 2012).
COHEN remembers legendary PHOENIX morning host DAVE PRATT saying of the Business format when the station flipped, “Yeah… We’ll see how long that lasts”; he said that he reminded PRATT of the comment at a charity event this year, drawing a nod and smile from PRATT. COHEN said, "The environment is ripe to expand our content to other markets and deliver it through multi-platform mediums. People more than ever need to stay informed as the world economy and the financial markets react and affect consumers daily." He added, "I remember being laughed off by the insiders that a radio format exclusively on business and money would never work. It’s a gratifying accomplishment to have persevered and prospered. Radio ownership is not for the faint of heart and through the hard work of a devoted staff as well as our loyal listeners, this celebration is shared by many.”
In honor of its anniversary, the station is donating 25 PSAs worth a total of $2,500 to each of 25 local charities.
