Control of TRANS AMERICA BROADCASTING CORP, licensee of Religion KTYM-A/INGLEWOOD-LOS ANGELES, is being sold to IMMACULATE HEART RADIO's IHR EDUCATIONAL BROADCASTING in a stock purchase agreement for $6 million. The sellers will move TRANS AMERICA's MY NETWORK TV affilate KAIL-TV (MY 7.1)/FRESNO to a newly formed company, TEL-AMERICA NORTH CORP., with the same shareholders as TRANS AMERICA's present ownership.
In other filings with the FCC, RADIO ASSIST MINISTRY, INC. is selling K300CI/FLAGSTAFF, AZ to HAPPY DOG COMMUNICATIONS, LLC for $45,000.
CUMULUS LICENSING LLC has requested a Silent STA for KRUZ-A/VAN BUREN, AR while it looks for a permanent new site; the previous site was subject to vandalism and led to the inability to agree on a new lease.
CCS RADIO, INC. has requested an extension of its Silent STA for KYED/CAMERON, LA while it seeks a new site.
And SHINE THE LIGHT, INC. has closed on the sale of FM translator K226CA/DETROIT LAKES, MN to LEIGHTON ENTERPRISES, INC. for $12,520. The translator will rebroadcast Talk KDLM-A/DETROIT LAKES.
The Commission also announced the shutdown and seizure by its agents and the U.S. Marshals Service of equipment from pirate station RIKA FM on 94.5 and 94.9 FM in the BRONX and 95.3 and 100.1 FM in MANHATTAN. FCC Acting Enforcement Bureau Chief TRAVIS LEBLANC said: “As alleged, these pirate radio stations were for-profit businesses that broke the law to line their own pockets while disrupting legitimate broadcasters. They should be out of business and off the air.”
And after a several year delay, yet another Petition to Deny the renewal of the license of CLEAR CHANNEL News-Talk WISN-A/MILWAUKEE has been dismissed and the license renewed, this time MARVIN J. TICK's 2004 petition against the renewal, based on his complaint that a host used the term "wetbacks." TICK's petition was dismissed in 2007 and the renewal granted, but the renewal was then rescinded shortly thereafter and the license renewal remained held up since then.
Also, NEW YORK CATHOLIC RADIO has been granted a new low power FM construction permit at POUGHKEEPSIE, NY.
