R&R RADIO CORP B/EZ KWXY-A/PALM SPRINGS, CA has returned to the FM dial, effective immediately. GM JACK BROADY noted that the station's new home is 107.3 FM, thanks to the acquisition of a new digital FM translator.
"We will continue to simulcast the station at 1340 on the AM dial for the time being," BROADY said. "But listeners who love the unique 'Sound of PALM SPRINGS' can now hear it in digital stereo. We will, of course, also continue streaming the station in stereo via the Internet for all of our seasonal listeners who like to 'take the station home with them? during the Summer."
Founded in 1964 on 1340 AM, "Eventually, the station will transition fully into LEGEND 107.3, reflecting its history and its unique heritage here in the valley," KWXY PD Bradley Ryan said. "The PALM SPRINGS area has a unique listener base. People here really appreciate the music of the Great American Songbook, and especially the vocalists who made this music famous throughout the world. Frank Sinatra figures prominently in the KWXY play list, as do favorites like NAT KING COLE, JUDY GARLAND, BILLIE HOLIDAY, DEAN MARTIN, DINAH SHORE and more."
Added 20-year vet MD DON WARDELL, "I think the key to the station's longevity is its adherence to sound and the spirit of the Great American Songbook ... plus a little magic and fairy dust."
