MONDAY (6/16) was a big day for "MUSICIANS ON CALL" which surprised cancer patients at CITY OF HOPE with a bedside performance from GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter GAVIN DeGRAW in a new program called "THE MUSICIANS ON CALL JASON POLLACK BEDSIDE PERFORMANCE PROGRAM AT CITY OF HOPE", honoring the father of PREMIERE NETWORKS' EVP/Music & Partner Integrations ALISSA POLLACK.
This program will bring live, in-room performances to patients undergoing treatment or unable to leave their hospital beds. As with all MUSICIANS ON CALL programs, the performances are meant to bring the healing power of music to those patients who need it most.
During the event, POLLACK gave a moving and heartfelt tribute to JASON POLLACK's legacy. "It is truly a dream to be able to start a fund in my father's name with Musicians On Call and City of Hope. He always encouraged my work with both charities and I know he would be so proud to be the inspiration for this. Knowing that patients will be able to benefit from my father's program is an incredible feeling.
"I want to thank D.J. SKEE, RICHARD PALMESE, JOSH MEDLOCK, DR. LESLIE FAERSTEIN, AMBER MARTINEZ, ALI WINKLER, ANDREW BERKOWITZ, and of course GAVIN DeGRAW for their support and love to make this all possible.
"We've had overwhelming response from artists wanting to participate in MUSICIANS ON CALL, and they can email me and we can get them involved."
An array of musicians will come to CITY OF HOPE every Friday afternoon to perform for patients in the pediatric unit and other floors of the hospital. A GREAT BIG WORLD, INGRID MICHAELSON, R5, RYAN CABRERA, BEAN, OH HONEY and STRAIGHT NO CHASER a cappella group are some of the upcoming artists that will participate in the MUSICIANS ON CALL JASON POLLACK BEDSIDE PERFORMANCE PROGRAM at CITY OF HOPE.
Funds raised in memory of JASON POLLACK at "TASTE FOR HOPE", CITY OF HOPE's Music, Film and Entertainment Industries Group’s flagship event in NEW YORK, were used to make the Musicians On Call program at City of Hope possible.
MUSICIANS ON CALL President PETE GRIFFIN said, "MUSICIANS ON CALL is incredibly fortunate to have ALISSA POLLACK as a board member and supporter of our programs. To be able to work with ALISSA to launch the MUSICIANS ON CALL JASON POLLACK BEDSIDE PERFORMANCE PROGRAM at CITY OF HOPE is an honor for our organization and a fitting way to honor ALISSA's father who had such a love for music and people."
DeGRAW sang his hit "Chariot" to a large group of patients that had gathered inside CITY OF HOPE HELFORD CLINICAL RESEARCH HOSPITAL. DeGRAW has worked closely with Musicians On Call over the years and spent time connecting individually with many patients.
