WTHI Morning Man Barry Kent Announces Retirement
June 24, 2014 at 11:52 AM (PT)
KENT posted: “All of the paperwork has been signed and my last day at HI-99 will be [TUESDAY] JULY 16th, 2014. It's been a good ride. GOD Bless you all.”
His retirement marks the conclusion of a 45-year career, 32 of them at WTHI and all but the last two as PD. KENT stepped aside from those duties to make way for ERIC MICHAELS in 2012 (NET NEWS 1/23/12). Originally WTHI's afternoon man, KENT shifted to mornings in the late '80s.
“Barry has spent 32 years on-air at WTHI, which is amazing in our industry,” said EMMIS/TERRE HAUTE VP JAMES CONNER. “He has more than earned the opportunity to reflect and enjoy what he has accomplished in the broadcast industry.”
KENT’s achievements were recognized by the industry in 2011, with his induction into the COUNTRY RADIO HALL OF FAME.
