On TUESDAY (7/1), CBS RADIO Hot AC WIAD (94.7 FRESH FM)/WASHINGTON, DC morning host TOMMY MCFLY and his team threw a giant "World Cup Viewing Party" for their listeners and the nation's capital.
Working with key partners, including the D.C. Mayor's office, they wrangled a flatbed truck with a twenty foot screen and literally parked it in the middle of PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE.
According to TOMMY MCFLY, "The D.C. market is NUMBER ONE for WORLD CUP viewing, and in less than 24 hours we were able to mobilize over 5,500 to watch the USA take on BELGIUM at FREEDOM PLAZA in downtown WASHINGTON DC. The epicenter of WASHINGTON cheering was staged between the WHITE HOUSE and the CAPITOL BUILDING ... The scene was electric and even though our bid for WORLD CUP greatness has ended, the power of radio once again proves to be alive and well!"
