While rivals like SAMSUNG are showing some sales weakness in their smartphone line, APPLE sold 35.2 million iPHONES in the third fiscal quarter and reported profit of $7.75 billion in the quarter that ended JUNE 28th, up from $6.9 billion years over year in the same quarter, according to the NEW YORK TIMES.
Revenue was $37.43 billion, up from $35.32 billion in the quarter a year ago. WALL STREET analysts had expected revenue of $37.93 billion.
And the future for APPLE continues to be good as its expected that two new iPHONE models are on the way with one with a diagonal screen size of 4.7 inches and the other at 5.5 inches. PC MAGAZINE says that between 70 and 80 million orders of the new phones are due by DECEMBER 30th, making it the biggest iPHONE advance order yet.
Meanwhile, APPLE looks to have been granted a patent on the iTIME smartwatch according to PC WORLD. "The invention pertains to an electronic wristwatch,” wrote APPLE in the filing for U.S. Patent 8,787,006, which was submitted in JULY 2011 but made public on TUESDAY (7/22)."
