PANDORA CFO MICHAEL HERRING told BLOOMBERG NEWS in an interview that the company is looking to expand into spoken-word programming. HERRING said, “Music’s an important piece of radio listening in the car, but if there’s a place where spoken word is also equally, and more important really, it’s in the car." He added that it is too early to discuss content or timing.
HERRING noted that SIRIUSXM has considerable spoken-word content including HOWARD STERN and the NFL, saying, “As the car becomes more important, thinking about other types of content that are important for the car becomes more critical. That’s why Sirius spends so much money on HOWARD STERN, sports and news.”
