ARIZONA LOTUS Alternative KFMA (ROCK 102)/TUCSON PD/middayer CHRIS "THE EGO" FIRMAGE exits after 13 years at the station. EGO was elevated from APD/MD almost two years ago.
Concurrently, sister Classic Rock KLPX PD/middayer LARRY MAC has been promoted to OM of KFMA and KLPX, effectively immediately.
ARIZONA LOTUS CORPORATION GM KEN KWILOSZ commented on the restructuring and MAC's elevation. In a press release, he stated, “LOTUS has built successful Rock Ratings and Sales stories in other markets such as LAS VEGAS and RENO, using a single Operations Manager to run the Rock properties. We felt the time was right to incorporate the same structure here in TUCSON. With LARRY’s successful track record in other Southwestern markets and KLPX’s ratings dominance the past few years…we had the perfect candidate for the job in-house.
“We see this advancement in our structure as a way to give our listeners and advertisers increased access to both of the stations. We also intend to capitalize on this synergy by having the stations work more closely together to co-produce exciting concerts and events for TUCSON rockers.”
KWILOSZ added, "While I’m excited about the future, I want to stress how proud I am of the job that CHRIS did with KFMA these last few years. Under his leadership, the station grew more successful and profitable. We continue to be proud of how KFMA has developed some of the best Rock talent in the industry, as evidenced by the recent promotion of KFMA’s morning show, FOOK & MISHELL, who will be debuting soon in a larger market. Their success is largely due to the coaching they received from CHRIS. We wish him the best in his future endeavors and remain confident he will do great things in his programming career.”
CHRIS FIRMAGE posted the following message on FACEBOOK:
"Radio friends, after 13 years, eight of them full-time, I am no longer an employee at ARIZONA LOTUS BROADCASTING, a victim of 'restructuring.' I'm proud of my accomplishments, (#1 males 18-34, 25-34 and 25-44) for the past year, but more importantly, happy to have made so many good friends in the industry. If you're reading this, there's a good chance you're one of them. I'll be fine, in fact, this might be a golden opportunity for me to spend more time with the beautiful girls in my life. Regardless, keep in touch, many of you have my #, or hit me up on FACEBOOK. If I decide it's the right choice, there's always a chance I'll be resurfacing somewhere soon."
