The LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF's DEPARTMENT confirmed that DEATH ROW RECORDS Founder and Rap Mogul MARION SUGE KNIGHT was shot and injured early SUNDAY morning at 10AK nightclub on WEST HOLLYWOOD's SUNSET BLVD, reports USA TODAY.
KNIGHT was one of three club patrons stuck by gunfire at around 1:30a. The two other victims, a man and a woman, were taken to the hospital for treatment and were expected to survive. Authorities are still looking for a suspect and because it's an on-going investigation they have declined to release additional information.
The shooting came just hours before MTV's VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS in INGLEWOOD SUNDAY evening. CHRIS BROWN and PIA MIA who co-hosted the pre-VMA party were not injured.
The incident did not involve BROWN and MTV released a statement disavowing any connection with the party. BROWN referred to the incident on Twitter, "It's disappointing that we as a society can't have fun or enjoy ourselves without altercations sometimes."
In a statement to REVOLT TV's Web site, "The family of SUGE KNIGHT ask that you keep SUGE in your prayers and to stray away from the negativity portrayed by the media. SUGE is currently resting and has lost a lot of blood, he's human. He's done a lot of things for the community and the culture as a whole so we ask that you respect that."
KNIGHT has been shot before, in 2005 he was shot in the leg by an unknown gunman during an MTV awards pre-party in MIAMI BEACH.
