KTWN/Twin Cities Stunting As Flip Looms
January 2, 2015 at 4:06 AM (PT)
What's up at NORTHERN LIGHTS Classic Rock-Triple A KTWN (96.3 K-TWIN)/MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL? The station is airing a Siri-like robotic female voice spouting random commercial phrases like "Don't you wish you used DIAL? Don't you wish everybody did?," song lyrics, and taunting of listeners for listening to a countdown.
A countdown to MONDAY (1/5) at 3p (CT), at which time the new format will be announced, is included in the stunting.
The station, the flagship of co-owned MINNESOTA TWINS baseball, closed out its final hours in its old format with SEMISONIC's "Closing Time" played at 11:59p (CT) WEDNESDAY (12/30). RADIO INSIGHT notes that several songs with the word "Go" in the title were aired in the final hours, matching some URLs registered to TWINS Dir. of Marketing JOE POHLAD, whose family owns the station.
